Post Isometric RelaxationPost Isometric Relaxation (PIR), is a technique that often reduces a muscular spasms responsible for a spinal fixation. This spasm reduction, eliminates pain points where a tendon is attached to the periosteum (bone). PIR is highly effective in stretching muscles and relieving muscle tension (pain) in chronic patients; however, PIR is most effective for acute patients who can hardly tolerate any movement at all.
PIR techniques are often superior to modalities for relaxation of tension. |
